Pics of the Week: Squats

I missed yesterdays Pics of the Week, so here is the make up session. We have all heard that the Demuirg are going to appear with the tau, and you cannot have a a discussion on the demuirg without taking note of the long lost squats. So deep from the archives, here are the squats......

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

6th Edition Comments: Tyranids

The latest for the upcoming 6th edition says that codices as far back as tyranids had a good understanding of what 6th edition rules were going to be. Does that mean that tyranids will be seeing a slight boost in the new rules? Lets check out the latest talk on 6th edition.

Warhammer 40k in the News! (and its not good)

Warhammer 40k suddenly appears on the front page of a popular newspaper in Greece, with the creator of the blog, 122nd Cadia face down checking his line of sight.

This article calls us Nazi's, stupid, racists, and more things than I am going to repeat. The Antipope was able to translate the article to the best of his ability into English for us upon request, so it is posted for your reading below. My understanding that his normal job includes translating English to Greek, so even if the article loses some of its sarcasm, as he claims, the point of it is still there.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange: New Addition

This evening we have another great blog addition to the exchange. I am sure many of you have been to this site before either from looking up Space Wolves or details for Blog Wars.  I happened upon the blog researching Space Wolves some time ago and keep up on Blog Wars info.

So what is the Blog Exchange? It is basically an exchange of blogs on each others blog rolls. Its that simple. The search engine beneath the blog roll is also set so that readers may do a search on all the blogs on the exchange for whatever it is that they are interested in.

Codex Release Order for 2012.

Next year is going to be a good one. The primary release I think that we are all looking at are going to be 6th edition. Beyond that the codex schedule is rumored to be along the lines of......

Presence of Faeit: Chaos Legions, Demuirg, Grey Knight Refinement

The rumor mill seemed to be just coasting through the holiday week with some exciting bits about the upcoming Chaos Legions Codex, and a few bits about the Demuirg and Tau Empire Codex.  Otherwise it was a pretty slow week.

For myself it was a week filled with trying to buy a house, the holiday itself, and a little refinement work on my Purifier list. Which of course means more model work needs to be done, but that is OK.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Curs'd Ettin

New from Warhammer Forge today is the Curs'd Ettin. Here is the latest with a link to place your order or view more pics.
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/CURSD-ETTIN.html

via Warhammer Forge
Renowned in dread Norscan sagas, the twin-headed, hulking Ettins are terrors of the high places. They dwell in lonely caverns and shattered citadels, splattered with the blood of their victims and carrying their stigma as a curse under whose torment they are bound to eternally suffer, despising all else that walks or crawls in the world.

While of a similar stature to the lumbering giants of the Old World, a Curs’d Ettin can be easily identified by its singular deformities and cruel intellect; born so it is said of an ancient treachery against the Dark Gods themselves, for whom they reserve their most bitter hatred.

The Curs’d Ettin, designed by Edgar Skomorowski, is a full resin monster packed with amazing detail, from its grotesquely twisted form to the jagged chunk of warpstone clutched in one hand as a primitive weapon. The Curs’d Ettin is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 28th November, and experimental rules for this rapacious creature are available to download now, taken from the forthcoming Warhammer Forge Monstrous Arcana expansion book.

Tau Update: The Demuirg and A New Mechwarrior Style Unit

New on the Tau front are a few rumors regarding the upcoming Tau Codex said to be released early next year. The Tau are said to be placed sometime around April/May possibly after a Black Templar codex. Either way, if we recieve a new Tau codex, it will be like the heavens parting for many people I know that love the army.

Have a Great Thanksgiving.

Hope everyone has a safe holiday, and if you happen to be on the other side of the pond (or border), I will eat a little extra for you. I will be back tomorrow.

I was looking for a pic that had a Turkey with a gun, this was the best I could come up with.

Chaos Legions: A Great Rumor Compilation

There are literally too many Chaos Legions rumors floating about, so it was eventual that someone would take the lead and put together a good compilation that weeds out some of the speculation. This set of rumors also contains a few new bits of information as well. Since Chaos Legions will be my next army, I am deeply connected to any Legions rumors that are coming out.

I have an affinity to the Night Lords, since I used to have them (a good friend of mine now has all my old models), but I will be playing whatever army suits my playstyle when they arrive. I may even jump the bandwagon a little and get some models early for this one.

Pics of the Week

With all the talk of the Chaos Legions coming sometime next year, I thought I would throw down some pics with the 4 gods of chaos. Most of these are quite commonly seen pics, but I enjoy them nonetheless.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Chaos Legions Continuous Rumors

It seems like the rumors coming for the future Chaos Legions book are just coming and coming. Perhaps this is because it is what people want, but it baffles me that we are not hearing more Tau and Black Templar (assuming they really are coming early next year).

Either way, I still love hearing new Chaos Legions rumors. They definitely will be my next "new" army.

6th Edition FOC Rumors and Starter Set Armies from Phil Kelly?

This evenings rumors are a set of rumors that come directly from Phil Kelly..... sort of. Lets take a look.

The primary thing in this rumor that is new, is the FOC flexibility. Definetly something I like. If this could be done once, it would add a ton of flexibility to our army lists. I love the idea as it changes what I would be able to field on the table top and if it was confirmed, I would already be buying new models for it.

Mangler Squig Pics!

Here is the long awaited first peak at the Mangler Squig. Once again these leaks are coming out of a White Dwarf someone has gotten ahold of. These pics were discovered by eldargal.

Leaked, New Beastmen Pics!

Here is the latest scoop from what looks like pictures from the next White Dwarf. New Beastmen Monsters. There are three in total, the top two of which come in a single box you can decide which to build.

Above is the Cyclops and below is the Gorgan which come together in a box like the Stonehorn/Thundertusk, are plastic and priced GBP 33

6th Edition Codex's Are Hardback: Some More Chaos Legions Rumors.

Going to a hardback codex something like what Fantasy did is highly expected in my book. I think the fantasy army books are extremly nice looking and a step or two above in quality what we currently have for 40k. My 40k codexes get pretty beat up fast, and the ink inside each ones tends to smear as it fades to darken each page. (perhaps too much re-reading of the pages).

The Red Guy: The Future of Chaos Legions, Renegades, and Daemons

Rumors about the three Chaos Codexes coming soon. The first of which we should see next year, Chaos Legions. I for one am frothing at the mouth for Chaos Renegades which I will buy. I also will start a new army when Chaos Legions comes out, so yes figure another 6-8k pt army for me.

What is this big guy in the picture? Well he is in the rumors below, so check it out.

New Forgeworld Releases: New Phoenix Lord and Phantom Power Glaive

New from Forgeworld today was two new items, Irillyth, Pheonix Lord of the Shadow Spectres and the Power Glaive for the Eldar Phantom Titan. Both are available for pre-order now, shipping the week commencing the 28th of November.

Forgeworld Switching to Finecast Resin? Forgeworld Response

Believe it or not, they may have just did it selectively, possibly for testing. Check out the pic of the Krieg Lascannon team that a Forgeworld customer received.

So this customer received a Krieg Lascannon team in finecast resin, and on Facebook Forgeworld responded that they trialed finecast resin on some small batches. So the question remains, is the Forgeworld writer on facebook just covering up a trial of what may be a change in resins in the near future?

Sanquinius and Daemon Clash: Black Library Artwork

Neil Roberts does it again. This piece shows Sanguinius falling with a greater daemon sword in hand. Its a little Lord of the Ring's in concept, but he pulls it off with great artistic skill.

Hopefully I am locked into a hard game at the time this is posted. My perferred circle of very good players have all caught the plague this week, so I am off to attempt a pick up game on 40k night at a local shop.

via the Black Library
This is Neil Roberts’s latest Horus Heresy cover, for Fear to Tread, which will see James Swallow recounting the events of the Battle of Signus Prime, in which the Blood Angels face a horde of monstrous daemons, and their primarch, Sanguinius, meets his destiny, as pictured here.

Black Templar: Finally Some Rumors

The Black Templar even though claimed to be coming soon, I have never believed. I mean really?, where are the rumors? Well there are a couple here, but really we know more about Chaos Legions which is much farther out, and even Tau than we do about what the supposed next codex Black Templar.

Tau Codex in Proof Reading: Starter Set/Ork Snippet

Rumors place the Tau as the last codex of 5th edition. This little rumor snippet places them early next year, its brief so lets get right to it.

via ghost21
i have to say that 6th isnt necrons or eldar, its chaos, i do know for a while 2 starter sets were planned
oh the mc transport, just wait til orks come back
back to tau i do believe the tau book is in the proof reading stage

What the Next Year Will Bring: Rumored Schedule

More rumors about what will be coming around in 2012. Of course we have conflicting rumors, and this one starts off going a little against the grain, so I posted opposing rumors right afterwards. Here they are.

Conflicts in Authors for Chaos Legions

Recently we had heard that Matt Ward was the author of the upcoming Chaos Legions codex. Well, a first hand report Games Day says quite the opposite where Matt Ward said quite obviously that he was not the current author.

Pics of the Week

This is one of my favorite pics. It was a random pic from a huge collection (700+) of warhammer artwork I was sent many months ago. I wish I could find out the artist or where this one comes from. Any ideas?

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Tau Rumors: Compilation

It's time to start (because I am ready) looking ahead at one of the possible next codex releases, Tau. The Tau are greatly in need of another codex, and with the rumors pointing towards several allies being present in the codex, everyone will have their eyes closely glued to seeing what comes out in the codex.

Necrons in Review: Unique Opportunities

Every codex has something unique to it, at least most do. For Dark Eldar we saw that they really had the opportunity to take advantage of the movement phase as a time to do damage to the opponent.  Necrons have some of their own unique opportunities for the crafty Necron player to take advantage of.

We will start off with Orikan The Diviner, Ctan, and Crypteks with overlapping powers to turn the tabletop into a battlefield of nightmarish proportions for your opponent.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange- New Additions

Its been too long, and I apologize for those waiting to get added to the BlogExchange. Today we are adding three new blogs to the exchange, and they are well worth your time to go and check out.

So what is the Blog Exchange? It is basically an exchange of blogs on each others blog rolls. Its that simple. The search engine beneath the blog roll is also set so that readers may do a search on all the blogs on the exchange for whatever it is that they are interested in.

Necrons in Review: Necron Warriors

There was a lot of grief about Necron Warriors that mostly stemmed from them losing their 3+ save and of course the we'll be back roll, which is now reanimation protocols at a 5+. So over all what happened to warriors and how can we use them?

Presence of Faeit: Allied Forces Return, Necrons Love or Hate, and Lord Inquisitor

This week we have seen a few small rumors coming around regarding everything from Sisters of Battle, 6th edition, a new allied forces supplement, and insights to Chaos Legions. Overall we have all heard that the blackout on rumors is in force, but the rumors are still coming regardless of policy.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Allied Forces Returning to 40k

Just as quickly as something is taken away, here comes rumors of its return. To be honest, I think this would be a very solid idea on the part of Games Workshop. Allied forces have been around since time began in this hobby, and removing it was a rather sudden shift in the game.

Besides what a better way to sell more models from a marketing standpoint if allied forces were allowed in some way. Lets get right to this Sunday morning rumor......

Natfka Takes on Necrons: Review Time

I know I have taken my time getting to this point, but its time for me to start delving deep into the latest codex release, Necrons.

More Insights into Chaos Legions

Chaos Legions are creeping closer now that the Necron codex is out. While it may or may not be next, I am beyond excited for this codex. It seems that even back as far as 3rd edition when everything was chapter approved out of White Dwarf magazines, we all wished for a codex that was more specific for each of the fallen chapters we liked.

Night Lords was by far my favorite back then, and this rumor mentions a stange assassin type for them.

New Releases from Games Workshop

Several new things are hitting the shelves again for a limited time from Games Workshop and are now available for advance orders. These are all available just in time for Christmas.

Lord Inquisitor 2 Minute MovieTrailer is Here!

The animation on this is spectacular. As the trailer builds up, so does the artwork, with glimpses of combat scenes, and what looks like a dying battle barge crashing down upon a planet. Amazing dramatic ideas and footage.. Please after watching this, go to their site and become a follower to support this not- for-profit project.

New Dark Angels Artwork from the Black Library

New artwork from the Black Library is always something I am excited about. It just brings to life the visuals of our hobby. This latest is a piece featuring one of my oldschool favorites, Dark Angels.
via the Black Library
This image comes from the talented hands of Cheoljoo Lee, the artist who produced the awesome Salamanders covers and works on the Warhammer Heroes series. As we’ve come to expect from Cheoljoo, this new artwork is a stunning rendition of a Space Marine that really captures the essence of the Chapter.

The story focuses on an Imperial Guard veteran, Reagan Antigone, who is being honoured for his actions in a long-ago battle against the forces of Chaos.

But when his old comrade, a Dark Angels Space Marine, appears for the celebration, Antigone’s account of the victory is called into question. As is usual with the enigmatic Dark Angels, not all is as it seems, and shadowy figures from the past come back to haunt the veteran Guardsman.

Malediction will be released in August next year

Rules of Our Game: Smoke Launchers During Scout Moves, Beastmasters and Pain Tokens

Today we have a couple of tough rules questions from a reader. These are some of tougher rules issues you can come across, and are sometimes used by rules lawyers to bully their opponents. Scout moving smoke launchers and Pain tokens issues regarding Beastmasters.

Rules of Our Game is a weekly post regarding rules problems. I run across tons of rules questions each week, and I think almost every person in our hobby should keep an eye out for things like these. It helps us when we finally come across such problems or weak spots in the rules of the game. Comments and "Your Wrong!" are very appreciated with this series, as navigating the rules of our game can be quite treacherous.

One Day Left! The Lord Inquisitor Trailer

We are one day away from the first trailer of a  full CGI short-animation titled "The Lord Inquisitor". If you have not heard of this project, then you are missing out, and about to be blown away by the work being done on it. Below is an example of their animations: Check it out, and then go down for even more information and links.

Necron Erratas Released

Necron erratas have been released. These come off the the Games Workshop Spanish site. These may be specific to the spanish version of the codex, but here they are. I also posted a google translation piece afterwards.

Necron Second Wave Models Early Next Year.

A second wave of models is something that we often very much worry about when we get a new codex. Everyone remembers Tyranids and Space Wolves. So when we get any information on when a second wave is coming, a little excitement or a breath of relief is guaranteed by Necron players the world over.

Today's rumor does not give us specifics, but mentions the types of units that will be coming in the next release for Necrons.

Pics of the Week

This week has proven that Chaos wins whenever you let your guard down. This is referring to my week, not 40k but it works both ways. Pics of the Week today is a misc. group of pics that are left over but are not worth leaving out. Time once again to archive.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Proof Reading Error or Insight into 6th Ed. (inside Necron Codex)

A lot of us have been reading the new Necron codex for any signs of 6th edition material and insight. Here is one of these little bits of insight, or perhaps it comes down to a glaring error in the proof reading department.

Sisters of Battle to Receive Some Plastic/ 6th Edition Coming Q1

Sisters of Battle already received the short end of the stick this year with a White Dwarf codex. While we did not expect much out of a WD codex, there was also nothing really else to write home about. No models no nothing. A lot of people were pretty sad.

This rumor takes that on, declaring there will be some love coming for those Sisters of Battle in form of the some new plastics.

How to: Imperial Guard Heavy Support on a budget

I recieved an email last night, and even though I answered it, (as I always try to answer emails) it needs pictures. So I thought that deep in the middle of Necron mania I would show something IG style.

This is not necessarily completely on a budget, after all you will still need to purchase 9 basilisks. However, with this you will not need to purchase any more than that, and still get a flexible and viable option for your Imperial Guard Heavy support options.

Presence of Faeit: Necrons are Here, 6th Edition Tactics, and a Dark Eldar Battle Report

This week, Necrons have returned to the tabletop near you with a vengeance. I have read through quite a bit of the codex, and their guns and units look amazing. I am really hoping that someone is ready to play them this week in my gaming circles. I want to play against them, with a list they are designed to beat, my Imperial Guard.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

The Words of Faeit: Crossing the Void (Dark Eldar)

Crossing the Void refers to getting your assault infantry across the board, often times through wide open space in the center of board. This is often where many armies lose their forward thrust against an opponent, and tend to get annihilated. While many armies use very tough to destroy armoured transports, several armies, which I will be discussing like the Dark Eldar, do not.

Online colleges have design classes for those who would love to design games like this.

I did not get this out on Friday, so it is a day late, but better late than never.

The Words of Faeit is a weekly post, dedicated to my thoughts on the strategy and tactical side of the game. They are not to be written in stone as "No plan of operations extends with certainty beyond the first encounter with the enemy's main strength" (or "no plan survives contact with the enemy"). Quoted from Helmuth von Moltke.

New Forgeworld Reinforced Armour and MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhinos

The MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhino, alongside Rhino/Predator Reinforced Armour and Minotaurs Land Raider and Rhino Door Sets are being released this week from Forgeworld. I do like the retro rhino look, and of course having extra armour modelled on your rhinos is also a great thing to have for all you space marine and variant armies.

Universities online are an option for people who would enjoy designing games like this.

These are available now for pre-order, just follow the link below.
