Necrons Love or Hate: Updated Backstory

Here is the latest in the Necron Backstory. There is definitely a lot of change for the Necrons, and many people, most particularly the players that have had this army for years do not like it. By the same token, I am curious as to the percentages of people that either like or do not like the changes in the new necrons.

Presence of Faeit: Necrons Vehicles, 6th Edition, 2012 Codex Releases

This week was another extremely busy week with the flow of rumors. It was like the river had been dammed up for almost a year, and the floodgates finally failed. The highlight of course was the release of the Necrons. It is nothing short of an amazing release. I expect to see a ridiculous number of Necron players flooding my local watering holes.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Night Scythes. The Hidden Necron Flyer

Take a look at the image above. Now that we have all these images of the first round of necrons, it was time to look into the details. While the background of most of the images just shows a Monolith or two, there is a group of flyers behind the Necron Lord. They appear behind Trazyn the Infinite as well.

The one vehicle that we do not know really much about is the Night Scythe, a fast moving flyer (fast, skimmer for now). Here is what we know from rumors on this vehicle .

Necrons Return Video: Models now up on Games Workshop Site

Here they are, they have finally arrived, and even a few hours early. The video shows off these amazing models, and there is some quick fluff on the GW site that dates Necrons to be 64 million years old, before mankind even existed. Nice video GW, the models look fantastic close up.

There is quite a bit to check out. Ive posted a couple pics and the link, but I have not yet discovered anything shocking that we did not know about already. Post it if you find it.

Quantum Shielding vs The Dark Lance

So we all know Dark Eldar have been having a hard time vs armour. However the new Necron codex places a new crimp into the system. Now I do not know how Quantum shielding is written, but the ultimate question for Dark Eldar players is, Does Quantum Shielding trump Lance weaponry. I would hope not.

My guess is that if Quantum Shielding makes the armour value 13 on a vehicle, up from 11, that a lance weapon would be facing armour value 12 with the shielding up, and then back down to armour 11 after the shielding is taken down.

Quantum shielding as we know it now, adds a +2 to all the armour values of the Necron vehicle on all sides. It lasts until a penetration roll is made against it, which takes down the shields.

So does anyone have any more information on this?

The Black Library Strikes Again: Valkia the Bloody

The Black Library does two things for our community, it brings to life in its books the Warhammer Universe, as well as put out amazing cover art to keep us inspired. This is another great work from Cheoljoo Lee of Valkia the Bloody.

Chaos Legions Codex Set To Arrive

The next Warhammer 40k codex to come out seems like a toss up between a couple armies now. The current thinking amongst many sites online is that Tau are next. Earlier rumors were conflicting with this, putting the Chaos Legions codex in March, or even sliding the Black Templar into the mix.

Necron Rules Perspective with 6th Edition

Some of the rules that we are to see in the Necron codex are going to appear to be a little odd, or misplaced apparently. For example, destroyers having perferred enemy, or snipers with rapid fire weapons. This is going to be due to 6th edition changes, and the Necron codex is set up for it.

4 New Army Boxes To Be Released: Dark Eldar, Space Marine, Skaven and High Elf

The Holidays are around the corner and there are four Mega Army Boxes to be released before the years end. One Space Marine and One Dark Eldar for Warhammer 40k. I had received these images and the information early this morning, but there is just too many things to get verified and posted. The information is out and rolling now, so I am playing catch up.

My pics are no better than the ones floating around on Warseer atm, they are just in a different language. There is also a Fanstasy release as well, Skaven and High Elf. The Fantasy Pics below are the ones from Warseer.

Necron Information from White Dwarf: Pics Included

Pics (some codex?), rules, point costs. There is so much Necron information is flowing that is hard to keep track of it. I have had to cut paste, discard, move and literally go crazy with all this information. To be honest, it will be easier to just wait and get the codex in hand to know all of this, but for those obsessive compulsive individuals like most everyone that plays this game, here is some information gleamed from the latest White Dwarf, including a couple images.

The debated about the images being posted, but since they are repeatedly posted now all over the Internet, here they are. They are of the Catacomb Command Barge, the Doomsday Ark, and infantry weapons types. Games Workshop, if you want them removed, you have my email address here, so ask nicely please, and they are gone.

Priests of Mars

This artwork is nothing short of amazing. The Black Library really knows how to do Warhammer 40k artwork. They really need to do a large hardback artwork release that is solely based upon book covers. This piece is done by Slawomir Maniak and it is his first in the Warhammer 40k setting. Look close and you will see Titans at the edge of the city.

The Black Library wins again.

via the Black Library
This cyclopean scene is from the cover of Priests of Mars, the upcoming Graham McNeill novel that follows an explorator fleetinto uncharted space. This is the first Black Library cover from Slawomir Maniak, and it really conveys the scale and apocalyptic darkness of the Warhammer 40,000 universe (expect to see more from Mr Maniak in future).

Codex: Chaos Legions and Chaos Renegades

Here is a small rumor set for Chaos Legions. It is saying that Chaos Legions will be a super-elite army. 10,000 year old marines kicking butt. It also declares a second codex Chaos Renegades that will get at first a White Dwarf treatment, followed by a real codex a couple years down the road.

November's White Dwarf Cover with Necrons

Here is the November White Dwarf cover, although it is in German (it turned out a little fuzzy when reposted). There is also a page on the inside, however I would rather not show that. It just shows the table of contents, and the only pic is just a close up of the last page of the magazine, which we already have.

Necon Pic from the Back Page of Nov. White Dwarf

Here is the pic from the back Page of the November issue of the White Dwarf. Very cool to see it all in one place for a sense of scale.

Pics of the Week: The Legions of Chaos

With some talk about Chaos Legions, I wanted to do more Chaos Marines for this installment of  Pics of the Week. I missed last week due to all the Necron images and information, and even though the rumors are over-flowing at the moment, I did not want to miss out on the pics. I dislike holding onto rumors I get more than 24 hours, but with the flow right now, there is not much of a choice.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Codex Release Schedule and Sixth Edition

Out of all the rumors that try and tackle 2012, I would have to say we have a bad mix on our hands. Chaos Legions, Eldar, Tau, Black Templar, Dark Angels, and 6th edition is just too much for one year to handle. So when I see rumors starting to break this down, it just might start becoming a little more logical.

New Releases for November: Necrons 1st Wave and Eldar Finecast

Here is what is on the official November Release sheet. It includes the first wave of Necrons and a bunch of Craftworld Eldar that are moving to Finecast this month.

The Official Necron announcement is due on Saturday, October 29th. Now I know everyone is saying that the 29th will also open up pre-orders, but the document I have says orders start on Monday October 31st with the official release date of November 5th.

Necron Announcement. Order. Unity. Obedience.

Here is the Games Workshop Necron teaser. Very cool. Pre-orders are up on the Oct. 29th with a release date of November 5th.
Good Job GW, very creative way to announce the incoming Necrons with a ton of flavor.

Tau Rumors: Pegged for Early Summer with More Allies

It looks like Tau are set to be released right before 6th edition hits. The Demiurg are in, as is yet another undisclosed ally. also thrown in there is a small space marine bit, Dark Angels are not in the 6th edition starter box.

After last weeks bad set of rumors on Tau, I dug up what the rumor should of been. These rumors I dug up were conversations in the forums about a Tau release. These bits of rumors were all given to us Saturday and Sunday in response to the Tau are Imminent rumors. Thankfully something of substance was delivered.

Presence of Faeit: Leaked Necrons, Necron Announcement, Site Changes

This last week was nothing short of incredible, we had rumors flying right and left for most of the week. Most of it dealt with the Necron leaks and a ton of rules that are coming in the Necron Codex. Also we had a few other misc stuff coming through, including a rehash of 6th edition stuff, and some Tau thrown in for good measure.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Tau Release Imminent? When Rumors Blow Up

There have been rumors flying around that Tau just might be the next codex release. Most people are simply posting the rumor without its source, which is giving the rumor much more credibility than it deserves at the moment. So I am posting up the entire post from notprop who put this rumor out for us, and then at the end I am posting up to what the rumor evolved into. You can decide from there.

An Elite Land Raider with Scout USR and more

A land raider that fits into the elite slot and comes with the scout USR? Thats what we have today with the release of the Land Raider Proteus. It is the old retro Land Raider from before I even started playing the game back at the beginning of 3rd edition.

Also being released by Forgeworld this week is the Relic Contemptor Dreadnought Body and new Contemptor Weapons. The weapons include a Multi-Melta and an Assault Claw.

Mega Paint Set is up for Pre-order

The Mega Paint Set is available again for pre-order. It is due to be released on October 29th and comes with a beautiful carrying case. Much nicer than anything I have currently for my models. I suppose its time to upgrade my army cases.

Amazingly enough, the latest new products for finecast models are not included, no liquid green stuff, no clean up kits or emery boards. Even though it can all be bought separately, perhaps its time to release the "Ultimate" Mega Paint and Model Set.

via Games Workshop
You get all 73 Citadel paints, including 18 Foundation paints, 7 metallic paints, 8 Washes, and a pot of Gloss Varnish to make all your gemstones shiny. Then there's one of each of the brushes, ranging from the super-wide Large Drybrush to the extra-thin Fine Detail Brush. There's also a pot of Sand, three pots of Static Grass (of varying verdancy) and a pot of PVA Glue to stick it to your bases.

6th Edition Rumors

Taking a brief break from the Necrons that have dominated this week, it was time to sit back and enjoy something different. It was good timing that the following rumors for 6th edition have resurfaced. So lets get into them.

I am very excited for these rumors, not just the new BS taking into account the speed of the target, but flyers and less randomness in our games (can we say that this is a GW response to the competitive state of the game?)

New Artwork from the Black Library: Angel of Fire

Stunning new artwork from the Black Library is up for show. Once again the Black Library truly shows us that they rule the field when it comes to Warhammer 40k artwork. This one is by Raymond Swanland.

The Lastest Complete Necron Rules Summary

A lot of information has been updated, and I am sure there is going to be more coming. However we should hear an official announcement only a couple days from now from Games Workshop.

This post is big, but worth the read. It is important that readers understand, that last minute changes could have been made to the codex before it went to print, but that the information listed here should be pretty accurate.

Necrons: Cryptek Model Pic + Army Wide Special Rules and Guns

This morning I have a listing of your Necron army wide special rules, Reanimation Protocols, Ever-Living, Entropic Strike, and Living Metal. There is also a listing with Weapon types and rules.

The Pic above is (although blurry) of a Cryptek. The pic was provided by Bramguant and is said to be a finecast miniature.

Necron Lord Trazen the Infinite +Official Texts and Prices

Trazen the Infinite is turning out to be one of my favorite characters in this codex. He is rather spectacular. Several of his rules are below. Talking about a cool way to resurrect on the tabletop.

Some contradiction here on the box sets, but hey, its a good start to see what we will be buying for the upcoming releases. Take a look below.

The Latest Necron Information + Codex Cover?

Here is the latest on the necron front. No real time to go into details, but I thought you should see it, as well as a glimpse as what may in fact be the Necron Cover art. Can anyone confirm?

Necron art from a local German GW newsletter on Necron release, first posted on Brueckenkopf website (Newsletter confirms 4 new plastic boxes, 4 Finecast characters and one new Finecast box)

Necron Numbers and More Fluff- How many can I field

How many Necron Warriors can I field? The answer is 5-20, but lets answer more than that today. Here is the number per unit for your FOC.

Aurelian Gold Sold Out. Silver is still up for sale

The title tells it all. The gold edition apparently sold out very fast yesterday, while the silver edition is still up for sale now at the Black Library. Here is a link if you are interested in getting a copy before they are gone.

Necron Information- Monoliths are a new Vehicle Type and More

Today we learn that a Monolith is a new vehicle type called a "Heavy Skimmer", as well as some special reserve rules for it. Much more here including the first I have read on the 5 Disciples. So enjoy the read.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange: New Additions

Last week I did not do a BlogExchange post, simply because I did not have any blogs to add to the exchange. This week is much different, I have three new blogs to add. There are still many more new blogs out there I would like to add to the exchange, so if you are interested, please drop me an email. Your blog does not have to be new to be added, the purpose of the exchange is still to expand our readerships, connect up the community, and push new thoughts and ideas for our hobby.

So what is the Blog Exchange? It is basically an exchange of blogs on each others blog rolls. Its that simple. The search engine beneath the blog roll is also set so that readers may do a search on all the blogs on the exchange for whatever it is that they are interested in.

Necron Backstory and Fluff

This morning is all about the new Necron codex. Yesterday we talked about some of the background of each units alongside some of their rules and Force Organization Chart. This morning is all about the backstory and fluff, because you just cannot be an evil space robot without it. Enjoy.

Necron Force Organization Charts, and Descriptions

For your Sunday reading, we have a listed unit name, description, and location within the force organization chart. This lists out the dedicated transports etc. Its a good read, have fun.

Dark Eldar Voidraven Bomber to be Released in February

The Voidraven Bomber was rumored to have had some modelling issues, so was pulled from its release schedule of late summer or early fall. This is the big boy of the Dark Eldar flyers and no doubt we would all like to see its release. It was so long ago we heard Jess say that everyone in the design studio was running around with these models making swooshing noises.

The rumor has it that it will be released this coming February, and that concept sketches have been seen. I wish we had a photo of these sketches.

The pic is from Dark Future Games by old school terminator. Nice Conversion.

Necron Rules: What We Know

Yesterday we saw the pictures of Necrons for the first time, and let me say that I think they are amazing models. I want to hold a couple in my hands to see the scale and mass of those arks. If you were hiding in a cave yesterday, please scroll down to yesterdays post with all the leaked pictures.

Just so you know, pre-orders are rumored to go up for these wonderful models on October 23rd.

Now that we have seen the pictures of what is coming, it is time to get down to business and figure out what they all do. So lets take a look at what we think is going to happen. We have lots of rumors regarding that, so here is a compilation of what we might be seeing with all those new shiny models.

13 (Updated) Leaked Necron Pics. Lychguard, Arks, Immortals, Deathmarks, and Lords

Here we have the first set of leaked pics for the new Necrons. They come to us via the Beasts of War and how they got them is up for speculation, but who cares. Check these awesome pics out!!!!

I will keep adding more as I recieve them. Keep checking as I find more and more.

Edit: Ok, I can barely keep up with these updates as I receive more and more pics. I just added praetorians. I will keep adding more as it comes, however I am not going to be updating the text anymore.

Dark Millenium Information from Strategy Informer

New Information from Strategy Informer says that we are unlikely to see the game in spring of 2012, however there is a good amount of game information. Here it is.

The New White Dwarf (I want the bird)

There is a new model for new subscriptions to White Dwarf. Personally I enjoy this one much better than the old one. I want the bird, and since he is a Citadel Finecast model, it is very possible to retrieve him.

You can see a pic of the old one below for comparison. For those of you with White Dwarf subscriptions, the new model becomes available to you on October 29th.

White Dwarf Leak: Necrons

We have some information coming out of Poland on what is in the November's White Dwarf, regarding Necrons. Some new units and new models are listed, here is the information.

Rules of Our Game: Gate of Infinity

Two sides are locked in a heated close combat, the marines are going to lose. The librarian looks over and sees a clear spot of terrain and declares he using Gate of Infinity to teleport there. Can this be done?

Rules of Our Game is a weekly post regarding rules problems. I run across tons of rules questions each week, and I think almost every person in our hobby should keep an eye out for things like these. It helps us when we finally come across such problems or weak spots in the rules of the game. Comments and "Your Wrong!" are very appreciated with this series, as navigating the rules of our game can be quite treacherous.

Necron Attack Uncovered (its not a shooting attack)

Finally we are possibly getting to the truth of what we will see in the upcoming codex. A lot of speculation and gasps of Matt Ward hate were abound. So lets evolve this rumor into something more concrete, and more realistic.

Necron Rumored Shooting Attack

Necron rumors have been a hard thing to get with the rumor lockdown. Today I found something interesting over on another site, that talks about a new Necron shooting attack that is like no other in the game.

Warhammer Forge Releases. Wight King Standard Bearer and Incarnate Elemental

Two new releases from Warhammer Forge today, the Wight King Battle Standard Bearer and the Incarnate Elemental of Beasts. The latter of which is definetly on my list to get. Both models are already available today, and you can follow the link for more pics and for ordering your model.

Tomb Kings FAQ Updated

This morning its now out that the Tomb Kings FAQ has been updated. Now it appears that its only a small update, mostly regarding skeleton chariots and the Casket of Souls. So while its a small, I tend to go with any update to the FAQ's as a good sign Games Workshop is trying to keep up with us.

Here is the link
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2001360a_Tomb_Kings_Version_1_1.pdf

I looked only briefly to see if anything else was updated, but did not see anything. Let me know if you find other updates.

Dark Millennium Online to be Released Spring 2012

Dark Millennium Online is now "pencilled in for a ship date of Spring 2012. The long awaited MMORG set in the warhammer 40k setting is one that I have been waiting to play for years. Here is the info....

Pics of the Week- Eldar Style

This week during Pics of the Week, I thought it was time to really show off some Eldar Artwork leaving the currently more popular Dark Kin behind. So for your Craftworld Fans, here are some pics for you.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.
