Presence of Faeit- Grey Knights "Done", Ogre Kingdoms, and Ard Boyz

This was one of those very slow weeks, were all that we really saw was the release of information about Ogre Kingdoms coming. There was some exciting things coming out of Forgeworld at Chicago Games Day, but overall the week was pretty slow. Now that means nothing when it comes to my modeling or gaming, it was frantic.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Next Wave Tyranids- The Bugs are Coming

Another set of rumors floating around for our Sunday best is another wave of Tyranids on the horizon. I noticed there were missing models like the tervigon or Tyrranofex in this list, but I do assume that they are coming as well. They would be models that would make Games Workshop some money.

New Dark Eldar Skimmer, "the Tantalus" Revealed (With Pics and Forgeworld Videos)

Lots of new things are appearing at Games Day Chicago. The first and foremost that caught my eye of course are anything Dark Eldar related. The Tantalus looks beautiful. Also included below is another pic of a Praetor Super Heavy Assault Launcher.

Lots of Forgeworld releases are also on the horizon, take a look at the following list. Videos are also included from the Forgeworld Seminar.

Vampire Counts Reinforcements + Other Misc Releases

New from Games Workshop is a full wave of Warhammer Fantasy models. Ranging from the new Vampire Lord on a Zombie Dragon, to new Citadel Finecast releases. The new models are available now for pre-order with a release date of August 6th.

From Games Workshop
Just when you thought we'd run out of monsters, wizards and gribbly creatures, look what we found lurking in the graveyard. With so many huge monstrous beasts now roaming the Warhammer world, the Vampire Counts saw fit to raise a few of their own. Not content with living creatures, the most powerful Vampire Lords have travelled to the Plain of Bones, a distant land where Dragons go to die, and where the Vampires can summon their most powerful Undead steeds.

Words of Faeit: Deployment

If there is anything to get good at in 40k, there is one that shines far above the others. Its more important than your list, a higher priority than your target priorities, or your tactical movement on the battlefield; its deployment. Its often not thought about beyond the simple basics, and the least practiced skill a player works on.

The Words of Faeit is a new weekly post, dedicated to my thoughts on the strategy and tactical side of the game. They are not to be written in stone as "No plan of operations extends with certainty beyond the first encounter with the enemy's main strength" (or "no plan survives contact with the enemy"). Quoted from Helmuth von Moltke.

Necron Codex Gone. Gone.

It seems that the Necron codex is no longer available. While not confirmed everywhere, it is at least gone on the US and UK Games Workshop sites. While product vanishing from stock on the site is not generally a "they must be releasing a new one", it is giving us a general picture alongside all the other rumors, that Necrons are indeed on their way. Soon.

It also appears a few other models are also no longer listed, but I have not had the chance to confirm it yet.

Ard Boyz Missions and Locations- Links provided.

The list of locations for Ard Boyz Preliminaries has been released, as well as the missions. While last year we had some pretty bad missions, this years are not only a little simpler, but much better missions. They were released yesterday, and the worst part of the release, is the horrible format they are in. It looks like they typed them up yesterday. A 5 year old could of done more (very non-professional GW, can we please get a little more effort?)

I am sure everyone knows what Ard Boyz is, but just encase you live in a cave in the US or Canada, or possibly elsewhere in the world: Ard Boyz is a tournament held in stores across North America. Its 3 games at 2500pts that runs off of Battlepoints to determine a top three. Those top 3 are sent to the semi-finals where if you win there you get the option to attend the final championships.

A look Ahead at 6th Edition

It seems that everyone has their look ahead at what 6th edition will bring us. The last few have been rather speculative, and at times appearing to be more wishlisting than anything. This one is no different. If you are looking for a better grip on reality, follow the link here for previous 6th edition rumors: 6th Edition Rules, otherwise, grab your wizards hat and look deep into the aether at the following.

Kill Team Date Announced August 2nd

The offiical release date for all of you living in North America is August 2nd, while internationally you are looking at the 10th. This game while not quite my cup of tea, looks like a fun one to just sit down with and blow some stuff up. Here is what I could find of the offical announcement:

THQ has today announced the release date for Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team, the downloadable title recently launch on Xbox 360 via Xbox LIVE Arcade, for PlayStation 3. Having benefited from significant critical acclaim on Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 version is sure to be met with great anticipation from fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

A thanks to Hotpanda of The Chaos Manifesto for the heads up here.

The Path of the Seer Video and Artwork.

The Path of the Seer is the second book by Gav Thorpe. I read the first one, Path of the Warrior, and it was a good read. I will definetly be getting this one, as it is set to be released this September. While we have already seen the artwork, the video is new from the Black Library.

Legion of the Damned Return

Its funny that the Legion of the Damned was a topic with a friend of mine just last night, as he is painting his marines as Legion of the Damned. So imagine my suprise when the Black Library released the artwork for a Rob Sanders novel to be released April 2012. The artwork here is amazing and is by Jon Sullivan. Enjoy.

Blood Angel Magic: Of Course more Models you Must See

It seems the magic is in the air, and its passing me by. These are some wonderful Blood Angel models released from Games Workshops mailbag. Taking the standard simple blood red that I see so often and creating masterpieces like this is amazing. So much  that I postponed my afternoon post and replaced it with pics of Francesco Alfieri's Blood Angels.

Take a look, and please no crying over how pathetic your own painting skills are, as mine are probably worse than yours.

Ogre Kingdoms Confirmed In White Dwarf: pics included

Ogre Kingdoms are coming in September. This is an announcement not rumor, as confirmed in the latest issue of White Dwarf. So take it as you will, Ogre Kingdoms are definetly just around the bend.

Pics of the Week: Cosplay (2 videos featuring China's Cosplay Event)

This week I was going to run Pics of the Week: Cosplay. I had been finding several good pics of a cosplay event in China, and let me tell you, they really know how to show it off.

Then I found that one of the new blogs to the BlogExchange " Miniature Miscellany" had a video of the event I was trying to find more pics to. So credit goes to Andrew for really knowing how to dig those videos out of youtube. So I posted the video of the event, as well as more cosplay pics this week for the Pics of the Week post. The second video I dug up later.

For those new here, Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

A Clear Look at the August Releases- Clear Images

Here they are, and the new models are really quite stunning. There are two Dark Eldar releaeses, and quite a bit of Fantasy including the Garden of Morr, Tzeentch Herald, Banshee, Wraith and New VC Beastie. There is of course more being released, but they mostly are citadel finecast re-releases. You can find the total list of models being released here, August Pre-order List. Continue below for more pics.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange- New Additions

Last week there was a lot of additions added to the BlogExchange here. This week is no different.

It really is a simple idea that came out of a dark time, when we all thought Ron of From the Warp Network was leaving the blogging community. Going with two ideas, "there are a lot of 40k blogs out there that could be lost" and "everyone has something you learn from" the Faeit212 BlogExchange was born. Its simple, place this site on your blog roll, and I will add you to mine. Then Each week I do a spotlight on warhammer related blogs that request to be here.

Now Thats Far Out: 6th Edition Rumors

There are some pretty crazy things in this set of rumors today. For a Monday though it is a perfect way to start the week, as the following set is at least very entertaining. Even though the author says to take a lot of salt with this, please take a more entertainment approach to this set, as it requires far more salt that almost anything I normally post.

Its Monday morning, so lets just get to it.

Presence of Faeit. New Dark Eldar/ Chaos Daemon Releases, Grey Knights, Tournaments W/O Special IC's

This weekend was a big one, with the release of the Sisters of Battle White Dwarf codex, and the release of some new models for the Dark Eldar. Also interesting was some other models that are being re-released, as I have a list from a pre-order form that I will be sharing with you here below.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Sisters of Battle Information. Lists, Scans, and White Dwarf.

First off, this all came in yesterday with the release of the August White Dwarf. I had the scans before I even woke up in the morning, and really anyone who was around yesterday was able to get them pretty easily. I was impressed though that GW was able to keep a tight ship on this one. They are definetly working hard at stopping a lot of rumors from slipping out on their side.

The scans are pretty clear, are not just a quick partial picture someone took. If there had just been one of those with only some of the information on it, I could of posted a pic of them. I could do it, but I am not. I am not going to publish the scans, for quite a few of the obvious reasons, nor link to them. Please do not do so in the comments. I am however going to post what Madcowcrazy put together, and it can be found below.

Most Powerful Model in the Game

Its come to my attention through games, that there is one model who is not a special character, that is such a powerful force multiplier that it borders on insane. Granted he is expensive point wise but listen to this.

Able to make a friendly unit Initiative 10 for the remainder of the round. Increase the Strength of your unit by 1 or 2, make anyone assaulting you have to use the rules for difficult and dangerous terrain, create a bubble of stealth for all units around him, of course shoot lightning from his fingertips, and Warp vehicles and infantry across the board . Did I mention he can stop infiltration and scouting, can get a 2+ invulnerable save, and can use 3 powers each players turn?

New Dark Eldar Models for August: Ur-Ghul and Medusae- Check out the Pic

Check this out. Ur-Ghul and Medusae pics. Two more Dark Eldar releases coming for us in August! In fact August 20th is the release date for these Citadel Finecast models, and each is listed at $25.90.

A Couple of Ogre Kingdom Bits

The rumors keep coming on what to expect for the upcoming release of Ogre Kingdoms this fall. Of course they seem to be coming in piece by piece this morning, but its better than nothing at all. Here is the latest.

The Monsters Have Arrived- Grotesques

Ive been working on my Grotesques, now that they've arrived. I have been excited to start working on this unit, and now that its here, I am going full steam ahead. They are together, and only need a little more cleaning up before I base coat em and get get to work.

Warhammer Forge- Elspeth Von Draken On Carmine Dragon

This is some fine craftsmanship. She is riding the dragon sidesaddle, its really an amazing model. Its new from Warhammer Forge today. Here is the link. Warhammer Forge

via Warhammer Forge
The ‘Graveyard Rose’ Elspeth von Draken, Magisterix of the Amethyst College and arch-wizard of the Lore of Death. Von Draken is born of a long bloodline touched by the Winds of Magic, a bloodline that has produced both heroes and monsters in its time, and the Dark Lady of Nuln is undoubtedly one of the most powerful Amethyst wizards of the age.

Appearing as a spectre of death, gowned in robes so black as to be woven from shadow and bearing a keening scythe, forged with Dark magic, Magisterix von Draken has long been a hidden defender of the Empire, and her life and acts in its defence are shrouded in both secrecy and suspicion.

The Words of Faeit- Unit Efficiency

Every game I play, whether win or lose, the one thing I look at very closely afterwards is how each and every unit did. Was the unit able to accomplish anything? Since each unit is part of a cohesive piece of the puzzle, did it do its job, or is there a unit that could of handled the job better that game?

The Words of Faeit is a new weekly post, dedicated to my thoughts on the strategy and tactical side of the game. They are not to be written in stone as "No plan of operations extends with certainty beyond the first encounter with the enemy's main strength" (or "no plan survives contact with the enemy"). Quoted from Helmuth von Moltke.

Amazing Models, Something You Have to See!

Everyonce in a while, I come across something that blows me away. This is definetly one of those times. I could not accomplish something like this, even if I was dreaming. It is amazing, and here another piece of AÅ„a's artwork.

Iron Warriors Return

With all this talk of Chaos Legions, it is only right that the Iron Warriors get some love. From the Black Library the Iron Warrior Omnibus is on its way early next year.

via the Black Library
The new omnibus contains Graham McNeill’s seminal Storm of Iron along with the novella Iron Warrior – previously only available as a limited edition hardback – and a collection of short stories featuring Warsmith Honsou. It will be available early next year.

Tamurkhan, Throne of Chaos. From Forgeworld

Tamurkhan, Throne of Chaos seems to be delayed. For those that do not know, Tamurkhan is the first book based on an Ogre dedicated to Nurgle, who is setting out with his brothers, to bring a final end to the Warhammer World.

Ogre Kingdoms. Rules, Models, and Yes.... Phil Kelly.

Todays set is something large, something ugly, yes its Ogre Kingdoms, and they are on their way this October. It is rumored that Phil Kelly is the author of the book, which is very exciting. A great Mammox, Yhetee, Leadbelchers and more.

Pics of the Week

This week, I was digging hard to find some good pics. I had thought at one point that I didnt have anything good left in my files. Thats not really true, its just that I had to un-rar them to really see what is in the files.

For those new here, Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Dark Eldar and Grey Knights Codex's

Well, I have both, they are the last two codex's, and are all the rage. Make an appearance at the local flgs, and just count how many of the first I was marine/  then vulkan/ then space wolf/ then blood angel/ then grey knight players there are. Within a year they will more than likely be Templar. They find something that is really cool about the new codex, and there you have it, that is what they are playing with their grey army.

I have no issue with these players, in fact, they do us quite a good service. That is, they help us learn and adapt to the latest "in" army. Not only that, but they are having a tremendous amount of fun, which is good for the hobby. So yes all you new players, go marines, and adapt your army until you find something you really like. Then settle down please, and choose a codex.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange Additions- OMG Part 2

Part 2 of today's additions to the blog exchange. There were quite a few blogs to be listed, so I split them up into two sets. If you did not see the first set, scroll down and check them out.

What is the Exchange? In a nutshell, add Faeit 212 to your blog roll (and any others that you find interesting already on the Exchange roll), and I will add yours. The search feature at the bottom of my blog roll also searches any blog listed. I also generally do a quick spotlight of new blogs added, so there you have it.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange Additions- OMG Part 1

Today there is an unprecedented number of blogs that I am adding to this list. Yea, I know its not a double digit number, but I was getting worried that it was going to be.

What is the Exchange? In a nutshell, add Faeit 212 to your blog roll (and any others that you find interesting already on the Exchange roll), and I will add yours. Presence of Faeit- Tumbleweeds and Nightmarish Music to Model by.

I have listened to the wind, the sound of rain falling down upon the pavement, and the rolling of tumbleweeds bouncing across the desert floor. In a moment I heard the shouting of a man spouting changes over the wind, only to suffocate when his voice was all but lost, smothered by the deafening pressure of time.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Model Done: Colossus Siege Mortar Conversion

This is a model I have had sitting around now for far too long. In fact I've had two of them primered and ready to be painted for well over a year now. A wild hair and some paint time, and one is now complete. So here it is, the first of my someday to be three Colossus Siege Mortar.

Scourge of the Storm: Summer Fantasy Campaign- Vampire Counts Lead!

This summer, every Warhammer army will engage in an epic campaign of magic and mayhem. With the Winds of Magic causing havoc across the Warhammer world, the Scourge of the Storm global campaign will see which army ends up as the most dominant.

Scourge of the Storm is a global campaign based around the new Warhammer Expansion, Storm of Magic. You will be able to record the results of your Storm of Magic battles on our campaign page, and you'll also be able to see how your chosen faction is progressing, both around the world and in your own country. What's more, Games Workshop Hobby Centres will be conducting hundreds of battles, and any results you enter there will count for more.

Salamander's Venerable Dreadnaught- Up for Pre-Order

This weeks release is an immensely detailed venerable dreadnaught for Salamanders. It is available for pre-order today, although will not ship til the week of the 25th.

via Forgeworld
The armouriums of the Salamanders Chapter contain many ancient relics; some bearing proud histories of glory and honour while others are burdened with darker legends. Sokhar Bray’arth, once a Captain of the Salamanders 4th Company, is the current occupant of the ancient relic-Dreadnought known as the Iron Dragon, fashioned it is said by the hands of the revered Salamanders Primarch, Vulkan, himself.

Bray’arth was interred within this revered artefact after succumbing to the grievous wounds he suffered during the now infamous purging of the moons of Ymgarl of its Genestealer taint. His strength of will combined with the dark machine-spirit of the Dreadnought in which he is entombed make for a potent warrior on the battlefield.

New Artwork from the Black Library- A book Featuring Asdrubael Vect

There is new artwork by Neil Roberts for the upcoming Path of the Renegade book from the Black Library today. Yes, Dark Eldar stuff coming....

via The Black Library
Andy Chambers’ novel Path of the Renegade will be available early next year, and features Asdrubael Vect, everybody’s favourite maniacal tyrant.

Words of Faeit- Disable and Destroy

Games are won and loss many times on a very simple factor. The survival and effectiveness of troops choices. Even in my two games yesterday, it was the durability and effectiveness of troops choices that won and lost both games. In the first, I could not kill his troops, even though I had been trying for a several rounds, and in the second, my opponent, really did not attempt to take out my troop units until the last two rounds of the game. So lets take a more in depth look at these tactics and some of their advantages and disadvantages.

Know No Fear- New Artwork From The Black Library

Once again Neil Roberts stuns us with his amazing artwork. A Space Marine battle in the cold void of space. Original, and cool beyond measure. These were released yesterday as the cover for Dan Abnetts upcoming Horus Heresy novel, "Know No Fear".

Necron Codex Alert- We'll Be Back

Almost everyone wants the new Necron Codex to arrive soon, even the whiners, as they desperately are needing their fix. So while news like today's isn't really all that noteworthy, it must mean something. I will let you decide.

More FAQ's that Effect Dark Eldar: Things You Need To Know

There are a few more Faq's that came out that effect our Dark Eldar. While most of these really are as we were playing them, it is still wise to know what they are.

Pics of the Week- Check These Out

This week we have some nice pics that were sent in to me. They are extremely nice pics, and some of them I had not seen before, and those are the ones I tried to include today.

I am excited today for the Pics of the Week, as I just went out and bought a new monitor. Images are so much clearer than my ancient box monitor. I have been going through all my pics and taking a new much clearer look at them.

For those new here, Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Mandrakes and Snikrot Updated in the FAQ's

A couple of things come about with the new FAQ. The first caught me by suprise, and the second will catch quite a few people by suprise once players start altering their lists.

Ogre Kingdoms in Storm of Magic

Storm of Magic is out now, and it appears that in the magic cards there is an attribute listed that I am not aware of, Bloodgruel. With a new codex coming this fall, (October) it seems likely that something could slip out in Storm of Magic.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange

When there are blogs just added to the exchange, I showcase them off on Mondays to start the week. Well, this week there is nothing new. So I would like to keep bringing up the BlogExchange, because it is a great way to see new blogs, get your blog noticed, or just find some good reading about the hobby we all love.

So what is it? It is basically an exchange of blogs on each others blog rolls. Its that simple. The search engine beneath the blog roll is also set so that readers may do a search on all the blogs on the exchange for whatever it is that they are intersted in.

Below is additional information.
