I am serious about not reading this. I am talking about Prospero Burns, a fiction novel by Dan Abnett. The first thing I did after reading this book was re-read the codex. The book was extremely good, the story line very well thought out.

The Emperor is Enraged. Primarch Magnus the Red, of the Thousand Sons Legion has made a catastrophic mistake and endangered the safety of Terra. He charges Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves with the apprehension of his brother from the Thousand Son's homeworld of Prospero.

This book goes into the heart of the Space Wolves. Who they are, what they are, and what it is they were bred for. There is not only a ton of great information on this chapter, but the story line is from an outsider with unparalleled access to the Wolves. Dan Abnett's style of writing fit so perfectly into the world he created with the Wolves, it was an amazing match up.

I really thought this is the best of Dan Abnett. I have read many of his books, and his storyline was more compelling with twists and turns I could not expect, but were not thrown at me. Coming from a design background, all I can say is that this storyline was designed well, and must of been laid out in a way that the author must of been able to see it all at once. I imagine large story boards with tons of evolving notes underneath of them.

With this book Dan Abnett told not just a story about the Space Wolves, he designed an Epic Legacy. Normally I discuss at least several issues I had with the storyline, however I was really pulled into this one, and the world created for me. If there were any problems, they were lost to me as I read. Technically I am not even a fan of the Space Wolves, always referring to them as the "Space Puppies" since 3rd edition. After the book though, I am probably going to pick up some models and see what I can do with this army.

Do Not Read this Book If You Do Not Want To Start a New Army.
